Journalism graduate + bullshit disease = Epic Fail.

Yup, most UK journalists nowadays do seem to be a bunch of moronic art student half wits as demonstrated by this little gem here:

“Allergic to wi-fi! How ‘electrosmog’ leaves Afterlife DJ in agony

We’ve heard of people trapped in their homes by a stubborn fear of the outdoors. But Steve Miller is forced to avoid the most ordinary public places because of an allergy to modern technology. The DJ, who once played at the massive Pacha club in Ibiza, is hit by dizziness, confusion and nausea whenever he’s near a wi-fi connection.

There have been calls for the Government to determine whether or not wireless networks can damage your health. In April, teaching leaders called for the technology to be removed from schools to protect children from a heightened risk of sterility and cancer.”
(Source: Daily Mail (of course))

Sounds worrying, right? Except that the guy made it all up! Yup, there is no such thing as “wifi allergy” and anyone convinced that they have this “condition” needs to see a psychiatrist rather than tell all of us to turn off our wireless devices and go back to living in caves.

A follow-up by Ars Technica reveals the whole episode was in fact a publicity stunt at the expense of credulous retards that seem to make up a lot of the UK media:

“There is no WiFi allergy: newspapers misreport PR as science

Newspapers fall for the PR campaign behind a new album, and credulously repeat a DJ’s claims that he suffers health problems from WiFi exposure, a condition that doesn’t appear to actually exist

The reason? Someone claiming to suffer from a condition that doesn’t appear to exist is releasing an album named after the apparently nonexistent condition, and wanted to raise its profile. In short, the news reports provided false health information because the reporters fell for a PR stunt.” (Ars Technica)
